BRAZIL, THE ECO 92 TO RIO + 20 A "FAILURE OF SUCCESS"

PETROBRAS building in Bogota, Colombia
Twenty years after the Rio Conference 92 on environment and development has positioned Brazil as a leader on this issue, with all its emotional charge, it should be a review of the table frame and guide us.

In a modern setting where everything seemed possible surfing the supposed great Brazilian environmental democracy where everyone would have a place, it is clear that not, the environment and the Amazon, excluded social groups and sustainable development recede before the advance of a new cycle of destruction of the Amazon, increasing the inclusive exclusion created from the Brazilian state social programs that deviate from the key issue of income inequality in that country, Brazil country of employees but not owners, much less true citizens.

The Brazilian decision to develop a technology for oil exploitation in deep water is legitimizing the worldwide escalation of exploitation of these deposits giving the moribund survival coal gas oil matrix, it looks like for example the question of the Malvinas revives the possibility of Great Britain to explore its continental shelf for oil, finally giving new air to the social political system associated with petroleum activities in the Arctic to the South China Sea countries are fighting the last frontier of resources, to give support to this model sociopolitical and was stillborn, as the two world wars evidenced.

Cheap oil, its use to draw water from deep aquifers, still strong predatory exploitation of the agricultural frontier in Brazil's Mato Grosso, Para and Amazonas, giving life to the profits of food companies that export to China and the rest the world, holding the complex commercial agriculture based on monoculture agricultural goods to feed the large multinational agricultural inputs with herbicides and fertilizers pollute the environment. Not to mention the aggression that GMOs pose to human health and stability of agricultural ecosystems.

This is repeated everywhere in Mexico, the United States, in Africa where cheap oil revives development models that were beginning to be replaced by models related to sustainable development and their socio-political systems, meaning that progress in the democratization of Africa, Mexico and the United States itself, we now know is a restricted democracy, will stop by the return of elites associated with the traditional matrix and the military-industrial complexes in the United States accelerating climate change and disaster .

The clock of climate disaster and not for every new oil well that is open, every new road, every new hydro, every single industry that is planted, each forest is burned, only advance when irreversible fatal disaster. Cheap oil is giving the false idea that it is possible to adapt to climate change using coal gas oil matrix as a motor for new infrastructure that would reduce the effects of climate change, but the winds of Katrina, remind the Child this is impossible, at least for 99% of the world population that has no condition to go live on Mars.

If proven causal relationship between increased number and intensity of earthquakes and tsunamis in the oil and water layers increasingly deep in the crust, we would be facing double-apocalyptic scenario.

So clean energy initiatives, organic farming and industrial conversion technologies outside the traditional matrix are losing support all over the world and the intensification of the struggle between countries through strategic resources like oil water and put the world on the path of imminent a global war.

U.S. and Israel are on their way to confront Iran and its allies in a war over access to nuclear power and oil, but also to defend the Western democratic values, in this scenario, Brazil maintains a position where it gets as chameleon champion of the environment by organizing the Rio +20 and accelerates its exploitation of oil, gas tries to give the government of Iran inviting them to meetings and keeping them active international trade, and trying to appear as a full democracy for the rest of the world, with a level ostensible political corruption, Brazil is one of the largest arms manufacturers in the world and pose for all the world leaders for world peace. All this for English see.

It is clear that the U.S. and Latin America can not embark on that kind of political behavior in Colombia would be wrong to try to legalize the drug trade without seeing its destructive effects on the ecological structure, social and democratic politics at home and in countries like the Central America where corruption associated with this activity is destroying young democracies only to feed the anarchy that a mistaken understanding or interest of democracy to create.
