Climate Change: From Empty Rhetoric to Immediate Action
Ask a botanist, biologist, or ecologist how to combat climate change and forest fires, and they will say: "Plant trees! Stop eating meat! Recycle!" An engineer might respond: "Let’s build higher barriers and walls." A lawyer will propose: "Let’s hold a forum, pass a law, or organize an event." Politicians, unfortunately, will look for tenders to benefit corrupt businessmen. International consultants will talk about "creating a startup" to sell it to the highest bidder. Evangelical pastors will call for marches in the name of Jesus to collect tithes and buy radio and TV stations. And some Catholic religious leaders will resign and say: "It is God's will."
But how long will we remain trapped in this spiral of empty rhetoric, political and economic maneuvers, and irrational ideologies that only seek to profit from the impending disaster?
The planet can no longer wait for more speeches. We cannot keep delaying the urgency. Science is not telling us what to do in 30 years. It is shouting what we need to do in 1 month. Yet many of you, with the responsibility to act, remain comfortable in your positions while the world burns and life suffocates.
